Volant's unique cold air box design prevents contamination from engine heat allowing cooler, denser air to enter into the engine. The system gathers air from two locations: below the vehicle's fan shroud and behind the fog lamps. It incorporates Volant's five-layer, Pro-5 cotton/gauze filter element for maximum flow and filter life. Components & Features: Volant Air Filter Box: Volant's Cross-Link polyethylene box is engineered specifically for the C6 Corvette to reduce intake restriction and increase air volume. The box also insulates and protects the filter element from engine heat, moisture, dust and debris to provide colder air to the engine for increased horsepower. Volant Air Duct: Factory air inlet ducts use sound baffles and awkward bends which restrict air flow. Volant's Cross-Link polyethylene air ducts are sculptured to give the engine less restrictive breathing. Incorporating larger diameters and unique bends that can't be duplicated with metal ducts, Volant's air ducts allow for maximum airflow velocity and throttle response. The ducts' polyethylene construction also dissipates heat more efficiently, allowing for further reduction of intake air temperature. Volant Pro 5 Filter: Volant's high performance 5 layer (4 cotton gauze / 1 Synthetic) air filters are made of the highest quality textiles, pleated between a top and bottom aluminum screen.
