The Corvette C6 spoiler is a wing-shaped apparatus usually attached on top of the rear of the body, but can be put on the front as well. Spoilers were originally devised for race cars to increase the drag on the rear wheels, to help maintain stability. They redirect air flow downward, helping to keep the wheels on the road.

Similar to a spoiler in that they direct air flow, they also give your car a distinctive race car look. C6 splitters "split" the air and force more over the top of the car, away from the tires.
